This week… it is all about Large Format Printing! Large Format Printing, also sometimes referred to as Wide Format Printing, is a type of digital printing that produces products that are too big to be produced on your home printer or even on high production copiers. USA Quickprint considers anything larger than 12” x 18” to be large format. Other attributes about large format printing, other than size, is media and ink. Media and inks used for Large Format Printing are typically more durable than offset and other digital printing methods and great for many outdoor uses. For example, banners, decals, parking lot signs, and yard signs are the popular outdoor products USA Quickprint produces using Large Format printing. We also produce indoor point of sale (POS) signage, posters, blueprints, and canvas prints.
Recently we upgraded our 52” inkjet printer and had to bring it through the window to get it upstairs. Big equipment for big jobs! Check out the video below!
Also, I found a video that gives a great example of what digital printing is, How It’s Made: Digital Printing, and it also shows some Large Format Printing in action.
Last week we discussed what offset printing is and mentioned other types of methods of printing that USA Quickprint uses to produce printed products. If you have not had the opportunity to check out that post, I recommend it: What does USA Quickprint Do? (Part 1).
This week the topic is digital printing. What is digital printing? Xerox does a great job defining digital printing, “Digital printing is the process of printing digital-based images directly onto a variety of media substrates (paper, vinyl, fabric, etc.). There is no need for a printing plate, unlike with offset printing” (Xerox, 2022). For example, when you open a word document or email and print this file to your desktop printer, that is digital printing. It is the process of printing directly from a computer to a printer. USA Quickprint uses high production digital printers, such as copiers, inkjet printers and laser printers, to digitally print several different products. Booklets, brochures, business cards, calendars, copies, coupons, doorhangers, envelopes, flyers, forms, invitations, mailers, menus, newsletters, postcards, programs, rack cards, signs, and tickets are all common digitally printed products we produce. Digital printing is beneficial for smaller quantities and for items needed quickly.
I found two videos this week to help you understand what digital printing is. The first video discusses offset printing vs digital printing: Offset vs Digital Printing. What are they?
The second video is an ad for a type of digital printer that is common in the printing industry showing the process of digital printing: HP Indigo Printing Technology | Indigo Digital Presses | HP. Keep in mind that this is just one process for digital printing. Just like when you pick out an inkjet printer or laser printer for home use, there are different processes and equipment for high production digital printers.
USA Quickprint has been in business since 1984. We have a number of customers who have been with USA Quickprint since we opened our doors, or shortly after, and every day we gain a new customer. However, we still hear the statement “we did not know you did that” from some of our long time customers. Or, we have a new customer who has driven past our building for a number of years and “did not know anything about USA Quickprint”.
We have a number of products and services, but we specialize in offset printing, digital printing, and large format printing. What does that mean? What is offset printing? What is digital printing? What is large format printing? How do each of those benefit you? Over the next few posts, it is our goal to help you understand what USA Quickprint does and what products and services we offer.
We started out specializing in offset printing. This short video below, found on YouTube, gives a great overview of How Offset Printing Works. When do we use offset printing and for what products? As mentioned in the video, the larger quantity jobs have a cost benefit, but also jobs that require special color requirements also benefit from offset printing. Common products that are printed using this method are: brochures, business cards, envelopes, flyers, forms, instructions, labels, letterhead, mailings, placemats, stationery, and tags.

Direct Mail can leave a lasting memory of your company or event!
I was searching for some content to share about direct mail marketing and came across a great article on mailchimp.com about direct mail. Direct mail marketing can be done through the USPS, or other direct delivery methods. It does not necessarily need to be a physical printed piece to be successful. Digital direct mail marketing is done through email, however these days some inboxes are inundated with emails. If done correctly, direct mail marketing can leave a lasting memory of the message being sent. Over the years we have seen many of our customers have great success with Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) when targeting an area, or even using a purchased or custom mail list.
